Known as the 'Battle on the Beach,' the North American Sand Soccer Championships kick off the summer in Virginia Beach on several miles of prime oceanfront real estate! Popularity for this beach soccer event is amazing and the NASSC anticipates 950 teams with over 10,000 soccer players will participate in 2010!
With over 100,000 spectators expected to attend, even locals are booking oceanfront hotels in Virginia Beach to avoid the traffic. By staying at a beachfront hotel on the boardwalk, one soccer mom says she won't have to worry about finding a place to park.
Beach soccer is definitely taking the Hampton Roads area by storm! In addition to the North American Sand Soccer Championships, Virginia Beach events also include hosting the World Sand Soccer Association Tournament during the East Coast Surfing Championship weekend.
