Virginia Beach Attractions
Busch Gardens Virginia
I was a pretty lucky kid. My brother and I grew up less than one hour away from Busch Gardens in the city of Virginia Beach, VA. With six fantastic thrill rides, on-site concerts, award winning shows and the new Sesame Street Forest of Fun, there is something for every age group to enjoy. I've taken my grandparents and I have taken my little nephews. This park is for everyone.
Loch Ness Monster Sightings
The Loch Ness Monster roller coaster has been a part of my life since the early 1980's. Opening in 1978, the Loch Ness Monster was the tallest roller coaster in the world and hit speeds of 60 mph. The ride is fast and smooth and sports two interlocking loops and a tunnel filled with mist. Thirty years later, the Loch Ness Monster roller coaster is still a favorite for park visitors and is considered one the greatest classic roller coasters of all times.
I remember racing with Jimmy down the exit ramp as soon as we finished the ride so we could get right back in line and do it again. Our parents were fearless and jumped on every ride with us. This family amusement park holds a lot of great memories for me and my family.
The theme park is just 3 miles from Colonial Williamsburg. Originally part of the Anheuser-Busch family, you could jump on a monorail, tour the brewery and adults could sample free beer. With new owners, the brewery tours have come to a stop and the beer is still available inside the park but there aren't any more free samples!
The Williamsburg VA Busch Gardens has a European theme and quaint shops offer hand-crafted gifts full of old world charm. Off season events include Howl-O-Scream and Christmas Town.
Howl-O-Scream is full of eerie fog, haunted houses, scare zones and Halloween themed stage shows. It's extremely fun and full of unexpected scares! Leave the kids at home- this party is for adults and the late teens. Howl-O-Scream typically runs from late September through the end of October.
Christmas Town transforms the area into a winter wonderland filled with over one million sparkling lights, shiny tinsel and holiday traditions. Indulge in fresh baked Christmas cookies, enjoy festive holiday music and find one of a kind Christmas gifts for your loved ones. If you have lost your holiday spirit, you may well find it again with a visit to Christmas Town.
